Social Worker Is A Person Who Can Help Improve An...

A social worker is a person who can help improve an individual’s well-being. Social workers help individuals overcome difficult situations like poverty, discrimination, abuse, addiction, physical illness, divorce, unemployment, mental illness etc. They assist children, older adults, families, individuals, organizations, communities, the homeless, pregnant and parenting teens, or employees in the workforce. Social workers can also act as advocates, educators, mentors, or counselors for their clients. The overall focus of a social worker is the protection of their clients and to ensure their best interest is taken into consideration. I chose the field of social work because it concentrates on helping people make changes that will improve their lives. Social workers are action-oriented, goal-driven, and dedicated to providing services for their clients. The true meaning of what a social worker does and stands for led me to pursue a degree in social work. I was initially interested in a nursing career; however, after learning about health related careers, social work caught my eye. Access to health insurance for all Americans is an example of a social issue that affects members of the society in a way that either influences or lead to opposition. The Affordable Care Act (ACA) was created to ensure millions of uninsured Americans, he or she would receive equal access to health care.
